Super model Heidi Klum was born on January 1, 1973, in Berisch Gladbach,
Germany. Her father worked for a cosmetic company and her mother was a
hairdresser. No wonder young Heidi chose a career as a fashion model. At
the age 18 she saw an ad for Petra magazine’s Model’92 contest and,
advised by her friends, sent her photo to the magazine just for the fun of
it. She didn’t even suspect what an important role that contest would
play in her future life. Having won the Model’92 contest Heidi signed a
three-year contract with Metropolitan. Before working as a model in the
United States, Heidi spent some time in the fashion capitals Paris and
Milan. Heidi doesn’t like to show off, which is why she doesn’t check
in expensive hotels. She worked hard and appeared on various print
advertisements including Bonne Bell, Finesse, Gerry Weber, Givenchy's
Amerige, I-N-C, as well as in Victoria's Secret advertising campaign. As
one of Victoria’s angels Heidi reached a super-model stardom comparable
to that of Yasmeen Ghauri, Tyra Banks, Helena Christensen and Stephanie
Seymour. Heidi became very popular also with her photos in magazines such
as Bride's, Cosmopolitan, Self, Glamour and Mademoiselle. She also appeared
on the cover of the 1998 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Having won
for herself the cover spot on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazine,
Heidi joined the list of the super stars and appeared on the Letterman Show
and Spin City, which gave her an opportunity to display her versatile
personality and to stake a claim to becoming a successful actress a well. |
